Yes it is possible to add a stay-alive capacitor to a Hornby decoder!

You'll need a very fine soldering iron tip but our easy-to-follow instructions mean it's not too difficult.

The module is approx 20x12x15mm with two fine wires. However by following our unique fitting method you only have one wire to solder to a component on the decoder PCB, the other wire easily connects to the wiring harness.

In tests on an old Lima diesel, running at slow speed, fitted with a Hornby TTS module and our Farad-Hey! capacitor the locomotive will continue to run with sound playing over a 2 inch (50mm) length of dead track. Without the capacitor the loco and sounds stops immediately.

Please note this will only work with Hornby 8 pin decoders R8249 and ALL the Hornby TTS modules. It is not compatible with the 6 pin decoder or those from any other manufacturer. It is not suitable for the newer Hornby Bluetooth decoders with a white PCB.
