Dry Mud is AK's gouache for mud that's already dried and caked on — a grittier, paler tone than Dark Earth, made for splatter and build up rather than smooth streaking. Flick or stipple it on for a splattered mud effect, or thin it for a lighter crust, and it stays workable with water while still wet.

An old, stiff brush is your friend here — flick it from the bristle for genuine-looking splatter rather than painting it on smooth.
