The Shimakaze was a Japanese experimental fast destroyer, the only vessel of a planned line known as the "Type C". Armed with 15 torpedo tubes and multiple guns, she was fitted with an experimental high pressure turbine that saw a top speed of 40.9 knots (75.7 km/h; 47.1 mph).
Launched in 1943 and refitted in 1944, the Shimakaze was sunk in November 1944.
